UA University includes courses developed and offered by the UA Training Department and courses developed and offered by UA University College Partners. The Course Schedule section of this website describes the courses offered by the UA Training Department. The Degree Programs section of this website introduces the college partners: Ferris State University (bachelor degree), The National Labor College (bachelor degree), and Washtenaw Community College (associate degree).
Both UA Training Department and UA College Partner courses are provided in a variety of formats, as shown on this page. Please also note the Residency Explanation provided on this page for UA members seeking an associate degree from Washtenaw Community College (WCC).
Residency Explanation
Fifteen credits per degree must be earned from Washtenaw Community College in order to receive an associate degree from the college. Instructor Training Program (ITP) credits taken outside of WCC will not count towards residency credit, however they can still be applied towards the core course requirements.
Examples of non-residency courses include:
- Any online UA-specific course not offered through WCC;
- Some UA Training Center Courses; and
- Any other courses not offered during the August ITP held at WCC.
UA members who intend to receive a degree and have taken ITP courses outside of WCC will need to take equivalent credits with WCC to meet residency. Washtenaw Community College offers online courses through College on Demand®, which can be used to meet residency and general education requirements.
